Review: Tide Pods for Laundry

*I received free samples of Tide Pods last weekend for my consideration and review. I was not compensated for this post. My opinion is honest & my own.

Tide Pods in Spring Meadow Scent

I am a huge fan of the new "laundry pouch" washing methods that I'm seeing in stores. I've used Tide Laundry detergent for years, so I was very happy to see that Tide has created Tide Pods, which is their very own version of "laundry pouch" laundry detergent. I made up that phrase, "laundry pouch," because that's what it looks like, a little pouch or pillow. The Tide Pods version is really pretty, too :)

The Details:

The Tide Pod is about the size of a golf ball. The three colors in the Tide Pod each represent a unique laundry product: detergent, stain remover & a brightener. It is an all-in-one product, so that you do not have to add in extra products or store extra products in your laundry room. You can learn more about them on Tide's website here. Tide is available on Faceook and Twitter.

How well do they work?

I washed a load of whites with one Pod and did not add bleach to see how well it would clean on it's own. The Tide Pod dissolved all the way in cold water & there were no blue stains on my clothes from the Pod. I added the Pod while the water was running and I left to get the laundry basket of whites. It cleaned my clothes as well as the regular Tide liquid detergent, when I do not add bleach/scrub out stains with a remover. The clothes are clean & smell nice :) The only stains that lingered were mud stains, but those require special treatment, anyway. (I live in the South where we have red mud/clay.) In the future, I will add bleach and use the stain remover for tough stains, because that's just good laundering. In my personal experience, the Pod cannot remove tough stains that require additional elbow grease (mud, grease, makeup); however, it does clean every day stains (dust, dry dirt, food, sweat) very well.

The lighting is dark, but this is the Pod dissolving in cold water.

My Thoughts

What I like about Tide Pods is how convenient it is--both at the grocery store and at home. It is much easier to lift, load, unload and put away a package of Pods versus a heavier laundry detergent jug. I still purchase the Tide liquid detergent when it's on sale, but I like the Pods on days when I'm in a hurry (no cart) or don't have much room in the cart. My mom is also a fan of Tide Pods and has begun using them as her daily laundry detergent. She loves how convenient they are and how they save space in her laundry cabinet. I also love that I don't have to worry about spilled detergent on my washer/dryer or in the cabinet. I really like the scent; it's fresh, clean and lightly floral. I like the combination of a clean cotton scent with the happy floral scent, so the Spring Meadows is definitely my favorite scent.

Tide Pods cost around $9.99 for 35, every day price.
