Shopping & Giveaway! Walmart Deals & New HP XL ink.

I love to shop at Wal-mart. Wal-mart has everything you need and it's all in one place. I like that I can park one time, check-out one time and get everything at a great everyday price; you really can't find a better place to do all of this than Wal-mart :)

I had a $75 budget, this weekend. We arrived at our local Wal-mart and conveniently parked near one of the many entrances to the store. I love to park near the Garden Center entrance, because I cannot resist looking at plants, flowers and seasonal items.

With the holidays approaching, Wal-mart is definitely my go-to spot for decorations, seasonal decor and all-things-Christmas! They have a great selection of Halloween & Thanksgiving items, too. My little one loves to look at the inflatables, singing holiday toys, and Christmas trees.

First: Electronics Department for HP XL Ink

The first thing I picked up was a new HP XL ink cartridge

Have y'all tried this, yet?

Why the HP XL ink cartridge is great:

  • HP XL black ink cartridges print about 3.5 times more than a regular ink cartridge!
  • You save up to 40% buying an HP XL cartridge versus the regular ink cartridges!
  • The XL cartridges contain more ink inside of them--they're not actually bigger. That means they will still fit in your printer. You just buy the number that you always buy for your printer!
  • It's a Wal-mart exclusive! You can buy it online or in stores :) Walmart.com/HPink
I bought the black one this time, because I print out a lot of coupons and documents. I'm so excited that I won't have to constantly replace my cartridge, now. Funny, but true--let me tell y'all what I do. As I start running out of ink, I'll just move the printer setting to "quick draft" and my documents get lighter and lighter... not the best thing to do--especially, not for coupon bar codes ;)

I'm happy to see the new HP XL ink, because I can print without worrying about it. They also make the color cartridges in XL size, as well! I'm picking one of those up, too, because I love to print out my own photos at home. I also print out worksheets for my little one to do; I print them in color to make learning more fun! The HP XL ink cartridges are a great deal, because it doesn't cost much more than my standard ink cartridge  yet it's basically the same as buy 3 of them! You can't beat that. Its also less trash for the environment ;)

Next: Groceries & A Care Package for my Little One

My sweet little Noah has been sick this week. The changing weather gave my baby a mean chest cold and I've been trying very hard to get him to eat something. His throat hurts, so he's resisting most things that I offer him :( I decided to pick up a lot of creamy, cold, and soothing things for him on my shopping trip. I even make popsicles out of juice, soda and tea for him--anything to get him to eat and drink.

There's a really cute Halloween edition of YoCrunch out, right now, and I know that he will find that exciting. The yogurt is cool and creamy; it will be easy for him to eat for breakfast. I got him some bananas to go with it for the same reason. Bananas contain a lot of beneficial nutrients and vitamins, as well. They also keep you feeling full, so I'm hoping he will eat one; he's always loved bananas. He called them "geegas" until he could say bananas :)

Every year--around this time--I replace most of our cold medicines and related items. I was pleased to see that the Wal-mart brand of sore throat spray was less than half the price of the leading competitor brand; that was a huge savings for our family.

I got a tried-and-true standby for chest colds--Campbell's soup. Wal-mart has more varieties of Campbell's Soup than any other store that I've visited. The price is lower at Wal-mart, also. They were only $1.25 per can.

Since soup is good for a cold, I also bought him a Maruchan Cup of Noodles and one for me. I thought, maybe, if he sees me eating it, then he'll want some, too. I love those Cup of Noodles; they're affordable and tasty.

Some Weekday Meal Plans

Another reason I like shopping at Wal-mart is their freezer section selection :) I bought a huge bag of fajita vegetables for around $2 & a Taco Bell taco kit for around the same price. I can use that bag of fajita vegetables several times! I will use it to make a large pot of Arroz Con Pollo in the Crock Pot this week. If you want to try this, you can also buy a Crock Pot from Wal-mart! They have everything, right?! I have an easy recipe that you can try right here.

My little Noah hasn't wanted a real meal, lately, but the other night, I got him to eat a bowl of Chili Macaroni. I wasn't expecting him to eat it, but he loved it! Sooo, I bought another box and another can of Amy's Kitchen Organic Chili to put in it--just like last time :) What I do is: I take the cheese packet from the Taco Bell kit and use it to make cheesy Chili Macaroni. We use the soft & hard shells from the taco kit to make individual tacos, instead of the double-decker ones--those double-decker tacos are good, though! They keep the shell from cracking & spilling out the contents when you or little ones are eating crunchy tacos :)

Great deal on paper supplies & diapers

We've always used UnderJams on Noah. Wal-mart sells them at a great price (better than the grocery store). Well, I noticed that White Cloud makes Sleep Pants, now! How awesome! I bought a pack to give them a try and so far, so good. I love the designs and the waistband is stretchy. Noah's wearing them well. I'll definitely purchase these, again; the pack was less than $8!

The 6-pack Decorator Towels was less than $4! They have beautiful designs on them and cost much less than the leading brand(s) that are around them. There was a lot of these packaging missing, so I know that I'm not the only one that enjoys the savings! I always go through the packs and try to find the ones with the prettiest pictures ha! People will come up to the shelf and just grab one and go--not me--I'm picking out the ones with flowers and animals :)

Stationary Department, here I come!

Noah drew this absolutely adorable "potato person" on one of my fold-out tables. He drew it about a year ago & I've done everything in the world to avoid letting it get erased--he drew it with chalk. I decided that I would just laminate over it with one of these sheets! It's a DIY project, for sure. This little potato person is so cute; it's one of the first "people" that he ever drew. I was completely in amazement that he knew to draw so many features on it. My Noah is definitely an artist. I love that we have another common interest :)

Only at Wal-mart:  HP XL ink for my printer

Groceries, baby supplies, & health items = $35
HP XL ink 74 = $40

I was really surprised at how much stuff I could get from Wal-mart for $75, including the HP XL Ink Cartridge. I got everything I needed for my under-the-weather little one, meal items for this week, paper goods (sleep pants, paper towels), and our general grocery staples for our home--all at one place. Oh, and Wal-mart offers coupons on their website, as well. Wal-mart is always thinking of ways to save us money :)
