I created this recipe using my imagination and samples I received. Everything can be purchased at Target. |
Wanna make turnovers at home? No problem. All you have to do is... grab three ingredients and impress everyone with my super-easy recipe. These Cherry-Infused Apple Turnovers with Chocolate Drizzle are beautiful, delicious and inexpensive. Oh, and did I mention that it's also quick to make them! I assembled these in just a few minutes and let them bake while I put on my makeup ~ multi-tasking at it's finest.
The idea. Target's website has this new section on Breakfast Twist and it's about taking everyday breakfast items and turning them into something new--it includes some recipes and mix-up ideas for your morning meal. I like this concept, because I get bored easily and I don't like complicated recipes that much.
What I had on-hand from Target to create something new was Nutella and Big Slice apples in cherry vanilla flavor. After coming up with the idea to make turnovers, I picked up a can of reduced-fat Crescent Rolls. The ingredients are so affordable and delicious together or alone. The Big Slice apples come in a lot of different flavors, so you could easily mix this recipe up by changing out the apple flavors.
This is so simple a child could do it. If you're cooking-scared, don't be; you're about to be cooking-awesome. Here's what you'll need.

Ingredients
1 package of Refrigerated, Reduced-Fat (or not) Crescent Rolls
1 package of Big Slice Cherry Vanilla apples
1 or 2 tablespoon(s) of Nutella
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit
Line baking sheet with parchment paper
Flatten out crescent rolls into triangles
Spoon 1-2 spoonfuls of apples onto the center of each triangle
Fold the crescent roll corners over and be sure to seal them by pinching them closed
Bake until gold brown--cooking time may vary--it was about 15 minutes in my pizza oven
Allow turnovers to cool (I cooled mine on my plate)
Drizzle Nutella over turnovers using a fork (like I did) or you can drizzle it with a pastry bag
Place one heaping spoonful of apple filling in the center of the crescent roll. I'm using reduced-fat crescent rolls and they are delish with this recipe. Be sure not to let any filling get too close to the edges.
Fold the ends of the dough over to close up the turnover. You can do this any way you want to, as long as all the edges are sealed. I folded this dough from end to end and then folded the long piece back over the middle of the turnover.
How cute is this widdle turnover! Ooooh, I wanna squish it's widdle cheeks and rock it to sleep! Seriously, this folding method was the quickest way and it helped create the beautiful, little turnover seen down below in the next photo. Stunning, right? She gets it from her mama... That chocolate drizzle, though... perfection. Thank you, Nutella, for being blissfulness on a spoon. You know you've "spoonfulled" the Nutella, too. ;)
Dig in! You can eat this in a chair, in a car, on a train through the rain... It travels well. These were so good. I'm definitely making more of these with different flavors of apples from my newly discovered favorite brand~Big Slice.
