Daydreaming Realist: Divide and Conquer?

Divide and Conquer?

When I first started this blog, it was with the intention of it being a personal blog filled with anonymous posts about life and poetry and so on. I had plans for it to play out like a book or journal. Over the course of the first year, it took a turn into a lifestyle blog with posts about food, makeup, linky posts and so on--which I enjoy and chose to do. But, now, I'm constantly drafting personal posts by the dozen with no idea where to put them. I can't decide if I should just stop putting lifestyle posts on my personal blog (this one) or if I should just start another blog and let it be where all of my personal posts go. It's hard to find the balance in the blog world. If you write personal posts on your lifestyle blog, then it becomes complicated and hard to follow-- it's hard to hold a lot of different audiences. I've worked so hard on this blog to build an audience and create a web site that belongs to me, but I just feel like I need a second one to separate the posts, because then I can hold an audience for my personal posts--with people who share my feelings/experiences--and hold an audience for my light-hearted posts about recipes, makeup and products {influenster and all of those posts}. These days, I'm drafting way more than I'm publishing, because I can't find the safe zone where things belong--where I feel like I'm building what I want to build. I'm thinking that maybe I should just go back to the original plan on this blog and let people who aren't interested in my personal life drop off of my following and build a new following. I feel that the people who like my lifestyle posts will find me over there on the new blog. If you're familiar with blogging, you know the problem is that all of my social media and affiliations (memberships) are linked to this blog. I wish I would have noticed what was happening and changed it a long time ago. I've been thinking about this for months and can't figure out what to do about it. How to move my entire "brand" and memberships to a new blog and revert this one to a personal blog? I know it would be easier to just start a new personal blog, but the name of this one plays a big part in what I'm wanting to blog about. Also, the new" brand" blog would have no numbers or followers.  I've thought of a few ways to do it, but I just don't know... I'm so torn.

So, that's what's on my mind this morning. That being said, I'm off to draft some more personal posts for the time being.

Happy Rainy Wednesday, Everyone.

  1. Dot is definitely a Valentine's Day color. And Dot is just now being released for shipment this month (pre-order) so that makes it ultra-new and special for Valentine's Day. Thanks for playing along! ♥ ☆ ♥

  2. I changed the photo to that one :) Guessing the colors (especially for brand like Zoya) is challenging. I thought it has to be from one of the new collections, but overlooked Odette. xx

Someone as beautiful, smart and funny as you are must have something to say about this, right? ;) So, what do you think?
