Daydreaming Realist: So, I Tried PetArmor for my Pets' Fleas.

So, I Tried PetArmor for my Pets' Fleas.

I usually use the expensive brand of flea/tick product for my pets, because the vet told me that it's the only formula that treats chewing lice, but that's not true! I just discovered that PetArmor also treats chewing lice, fleas, and ticks at a fraction of the cost and uses the same vet-recommended active ingredient (Fipronil) that's found in Frontline. I'm very grateful that I was given the opportunity to test this product out from MomitForward and PetArmor.

Taking Care of Pets can get Expensive, so let's save money...

As you know, I have little house dogs and I took in foster kitties (outdoors) and decided to spay and keep them. So, needless to say, I have a few pets that need treatments for lice, fleas and ticks ~ that can become very costly. Thankfully, PetArmor is available at local retailers for much less than other leading brands and it works just as well, in my opinion. I like that it has individual doses measured out (like usual) and it comes with the little calender stickers to help you keep up with the treatment dates for each pet.

I never even knew what chewing lice was until I took my cat, Emma, to get spayed. The vet said she had a little lice and they gave her a treatment and told me to treat my other cat, as well. So, now, I'm very aware of lice on cats and make sure to buy a treatment that works for that as well. The lice looks like little tiny specks of dirt, by the way; its very easy to overlook. (thank goodness the kitties live outside, right?)

Ticks are out in the Winter

Even though it's approaching wintertime, I'm still cautious about ticks and fleas hitching a ride on my pets, because ticks can be dangerous to pets and humans.

  • Ticks can carry Lyme Disease  (which is harmful for people of all ages and can go unnoticed if you don't recognize the symptoms) and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
  • Deer Ticks actually begin their feeding activity in October--especially, when the weather rises above freezing (source). The nasty little ticks rise up and look for someone to feed on--this could be any of your pets while they're out for a walk.
  • The ticks can ride back into your house with your pet and that's not good, so it's best to have your dogs treated and ready to give those tick-hitchhikers the boot.

PetArmor uses Fipronil as an active ingredient and that's a big deal, because it kills all stages of development for the pests (not all pet treatments stop the life cycle of pests; some treatments just kill the adult pests). This active ingredient keeps new eggs from being placed and hatched by the pests on your furry loved one.

I've had great results with PetArmor for cats and dogs. I sent the third treatment tube to my mom's house for her outdoor cat and it really improved the cat's pest situation right away. I don't know where the lice are coming from this year, but they're on everyone's cats around here... Gross, but fixable with the PetAmor treatments.

So, that's my personal experience with PetArmor and all the reasons why I'll continue to buy it for my pets instead of the brand that I was buying. During this campaign I learned a lot about ticks, so I'm glad that I could pass that on to you. I've always known that they live in the pine needles in the woods, because they would get on us when we played there as children, but I had no idea that ticks lived into the cold season.

Take care of your pets, because they love you very much.
You're their parent and protector.

Have a beautiful weekend, everyone! Halloween is just around the corner~ who's ready for Fall Festivals, pumpkin carving and cute costumes?! I know I am!

This post is sincerely written by me and I actually used (and now "use") this product. I was offered the chance to write this sponsored post/review from MomItForward and PetArmor. I've really enjoyed being a part of this campaign, because it's greatly helped my budget for pet flea, tick, lice treatments. I hope this post helps you out, as well.

  1. So great that you could try out PetArmor ~ I would love to give it a try for Dallas. I've never heard of chewing lice, but I'm sure it's more common than most people think, like you mentioned. We do have tons of ticks here though, even in the winter, because they come in on the deer. You did a great job on this post ~ I followed PetArmor on Facebook and Twitter :)

  2. Um who is that furry little creature in your first photo? Is that YOUR pupperoo? I am used to seeing your other little cutie in your photos :) He/She is SO stinkin adorable though! I want a long haired doggie like that. They're so cuddly. Anyhoo- I have used PetArmor on my two dogs also. When my Pug was younger the vet actually recommended we use it because it was highly recommended and wouldn't interfere with her sensitive skin issues. We haven't had any issues with ticks, lice, or other critters lately (thanks goodness) but this is a brand that I have trusted for quite some time. I am so glad you got to try it out for yourself! By the way, I am terrified of ticks. I remember learning about them in Girl Scouts and I became so paranoid on camping trips and even at home. Living in Florida there really aren't very many occurrences of ticks where I here but they scare the you know what out of me. They're all fat and full of blood! Then they latch onto you with their death grip. It's just GROSS. Okay end tick rant here. Great post!
