Don't worry, because there's more options for children's subscription box services!
You can check out Kiwi Crate or BabbaBox, instead. We highly recommend both of those!
Have a lovely day!! :)
Wonder Box: So, What is it?
Wonder Box is an educational monthly subscription service for children ages 3-6. It is created by the folks at education.com. Each month, your child will receive a Wonder Box delivered to their doorstep. The Wonder Box is created around one theme; you will never receive the same projects twice. The contents of the box will include the supplies & instructions needed to complete at least 3 different projects. The projects will help teach your child about that month's theme (seasons, colors, science, nature, Once Upon a Time etc.)
How Can I Purchase Wonder Box?
What Will Your Child Learn with Wonder Box?
Wonder Box is designed for children ages 3-6. The materials and lesson plans are created to help children who are preparing for pre-k and kindergarten. The core skills explored with Wonder Box are: Sorting & Patterning, Number Sense, Letters & Phonics, Shape Recognition, Color Exploration, Fine Motor Skills, Gross Motor Skills, Reading Readiness, and Starting Science.
What Makes Wonder Box Special:
To start with the most simple, yet incredibly useful pluses of Wonder Box:
- You can control your own subscription. You can go online and cancel it, change it to more/less months, change your address, add extra children or change your billing information.
- You can earn referral credits (cash refunds) when you sign up, by sharing your referral link with others. You will receive a link when you sign up. You can earn up to the amount that you spent (if you paid for the 3-month subscription, you can earn up to the cost of that subscription in the form of a refund to your credit card).
- The activities are simple, fun, age-appropriate, and very neatly sorted out in the Wonder Box. You will not have to search for supplies in the box; everything is in it's own labeled-bag.
- Wonder Box is created by education.com, which is one of the most incredible online resources for parents, children and educators. There are--literally--hundreds of printables, articles, tips, ideas and articles available for you to access on their website. There's also a paid-access program if you want access to printable workbooks and other benefits. I recently discovered this website and we're very much in love with it.
Wonder Box is unique in that it doesn't require that you have a home computer, internet access or even a smartphone. You can enjoy & complete the Wonder Box activities wherever you are--at home, outside, on vacation. There are some activities that may require baking (stained-glass cookie recipe, for example); so, you will need a stove for that one! I really love the variety of activities in the Wonder Box, because it allows for personal exploration for your child(ren) and for yourself. You will have a lot of fun completing activities from coloring, to fabric art to baking crayon molds!
Wonder Box has incredible variety and the activities leave everyone feeling satisfied and successful. My little one was so proud of his hand puppet that he created; I truly had tears of joy from experiencing the heart-warming smile on his tiny face. As soon as he's ready, that hand puppet is going in a shadowbox frame in our home :)
Our "Once Upon a Time" Wonder Box Review
This Wonder Box was a lot of fun! It came with several different activities that were related to storytelling and using your imagination. I was so pleased to see that all of the materials were included and the instructions were easy to follow. There was plenty of supplies in the box for my little one to create his own cape, hand puppet, create a story of his own and even color the storybook, "Stone Soup."
This Story Cape is unique, because your child can draw on the back of it with the included fabric pastels, then a parent can iron over the image to make it last for more playtime.
The cape comes in many beautiful colors (random) and has a Velcro fastener that your child can open/close on their own (great for fine motor skills).
This was my baby boy's favorite activity from the Once Upon a Time Wonder Box! He had so much fun creating his "dragon-creature!" I will include a photo album for you to enjoy (bottom of the post).
The hand puppet is already sewn together and no scissors are needed. This project is perfect for boy and girls; preschoolers and older children.
The Story Cards are meant to stimulate your child's imagination by prompting them to tell a story by arranging cards in order. You can draw them from the deck and make up a story or even take turns adding details to the story.
These cards are also great for learning new words; this is especially useful if your child has a developmental language delay. Each card is simple, colorful and easy to understand. They're great for learning: colors, animals, clothing items, nouns, verbs etc. They also come in a handy little storage case.
Our favorite activities from the "Once Upon a Time" Wonder Box were:
The Puppet Play & the Story Cape! Those two activities were perfect for a 4-year-old child. My little one loved creating his own adorably cute dragon & heroic cape with his name printed inside.
Would I buy this again? Yes! We're signed up for a monthly subscription to Wonder Box!
Our Photo Album
All of the supplies are included in the little bag :)There's plenty of glue, colorful pieces and "hair" to fulfill any child's puppet-making dream!
I asked him to sort out the pieces and we talked about the different colors and shapes. |
I put little glue lines on the puppet
and let my Noah pick out
what he wanted to put on each spot.
He chose to add hair
to his little creature--what a great idea!
He did a wonderful job of coming up with ideas on his own. |
He can glue it by himself ;-) |
Mouth scales are a must! |
The newest member of our family! He has a belt to keep his hair in place :) |
Wonder Box Puppet! Ta-da!
I hope you enjoyed our review--I'll say "our," because my little one had a hand in this one :) We had a great time with our Wonder Box and look forward to more Wonder Boxes to come!
Also, make sure that you check out education.com, because the website is simply amazing! I will do a separate post on this, most likely. As I mentioned, earlier, they have tons of printables, ideas and activities for your child/grandchild to enjoy. It's the best educational website that I've stumbled across while wanting more worksheets for my baby boy. He really loves matching and mazes--they have those, too!
*I received the Once Upon a Time Wonder Box complimentary from the company in exchange for an honest review.
What a fun subscription! I will have to remember this for the future! Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteIt really is! My little one loved the activities :) Happy Wednesday!
DeleteSO HAPPY you both enjoyed the Wonderbox! We loved ours too. Toodie stills plays with her super hero cape and puppet. We have been using the puppet for potty training and surprisingly, it HAS been working! She makes me bring it in the bathroom when she is trying to make #2 so it can sing the potty dance, and have a conversation with the potty. I've never had so much one on one time with a puppet before LOL
ReplyDeletelol! That's adorable! We really did enjoy it & I'm keeping it handy for other ideas. I love how easy it was to do the activities in there--I'm also crazy about felt art projects :) Noah♥ seems to feel the same way.
DeleteIt's funny you say that, because Noah carries around a Sonic the Hedgehog toy everywhere we go. Well, Sonic went to the eye doctor on Monday and had to get his eyes dilated like Noah's... Sonic still wakes up and has to get his eyes dilated every morning lol. Kids are so cute. Its fun how we get to make things talk and act like kids, again :) btw, I love Toodie's puppet! Dragon-Dog beards is where it's at ;D
Thank you! I will definitely stop by! Have wonderful day :)
