Book Review: "Llama Llama Mad at Mama" by Anna Dewdney

I have been reading a bedtime story to  my little Noah every night since he was just a baby. He's had many favorite books and has learned so much from them. Noah's current favorite book is Llama Llama Mad at Mama by Anna Dewdney. This is one of the most amazingly engaging and addictive books series I've ever read! Noah and I both look forward to reading a book from this series every night, lately, and I am always anxiously awaiting the release of a new one.

Llama Llama Mad at Mama is the story of young Llama Llama, who has to stop playing, and go to the "Shop-o-Rama" with his "Llama Mama." The story progresses from the car ride, through his climatic tantrum and into a beautiful resolution--in which he learns to shop with Llama Mama and enjoy himself. It's a beautiful story that anyone can appreciate, especially parents & young children. Shopping can be tiring and boring, but when you learn to enjoy the company of your shopping companion, you find more joy in the routine activity.

Here's an excerpt from the book Llama Llama Mad at Mama:

The Tantrum
Flying pasta
Spraying juice
Paper towels, rolling loose

This book is not only beautifully written, it is also beautifully illustrated. The photos tell the story as well, so even a young child can flip through the book and understand what is happening. The photos contain many everyday items, which is also great for teaching new words to young children or/and children who have delayed language development.

Llama Llama Mad at Mama is a wonderful book that will encourage children to read, while learning from little Llama Llama's experience. Noah has learned to identify the words "Mama" and "Llama" from this book. He points at the picture of the Mama Llama and little Llama Llama and says, "Us"... it warms my heart :)

I give this book 5/5 and I HIGHLY recommend it as a gift to any child, anywhere. It would even make a great baby shower gift for an expectant parent.
