What is a Blue Moon?

In most cases, a "blue moon" is when there are two full moons in a one-month calendar cycle. Traditionally, a "blue moon"  is when there's 4 full moons within a season--the third full moon is called the "blue moon." This is a pretty rare occurrence. The moon is not often blue in appearance, but it can be. A Blue Moon is a good opportunity to notice how beautiful nature is and take a moment to oooh/ahhh at it :) 

Tidbit: A blue moon is often called "A Lover's Moon." 

Full moons have been known to cause a change in behavior of both people and animals, as well. Have you ever noticed a change in your mood/behavior during a full moon? How about your pet's behavior?

The year 1999 had a very, very rare occurrence--there were two blue moons during 1999! One was in January; the second was the night of March 2, 1999. That was a good year for love.
